Ten practitioners. October through January. One founding cohort.

This is for practitioners willing to take an emerging instrument into real conversations with real clients —and to let what happens there shape the developmental possibilities for clients, as well as what the Availability Snapshot becomes.

This is not a certification. The Availability Snapshot has not yet completed discriminant-validity testing or an independent ethics review. To certify practitioners at this stage would ask the instrument to make a claim it cannot yet support.

What I can offer instead is Founding Practitioner status, your first year’s licence, and a genuine hand in the instrument’s development.

What it involves

October — Learn the instrument.
Three four-hour sessions, delivered in one week. There will also be approximately four hours of pre-work. It matters: the live sessions will be built on the assumption that you have taken the Availability Snapshot.

November and December — Take it into the field.
Use the Snapshot with at least two real clients. We will meet for one 90-minute case clinic, with a dedicated channel for questions, observations, and support between sessions.

January — Harvest what we have learned.
We will spend half a day examining what the instrument illuminated, what it missed or got wrong, and what would need to be true before it’s further integrated into programme work. We will also begin designing a new feature together that looks at the external conditions that impact availability and participation in organizational and programmatic contexts.

The exchange

The fee is US$800, which includes the training, use of the instrument, a one-year licence, and your first year in the Practitioner Circle. After this cohort, the fee will be somewhere around US$3,500.

I want to name the exchange plainly. I am offering you the training, the instrument, a year’s licence, and my close attention while you begin using it. You are offering the fee—and something I cannot buy: what happens when the Snapshot meets a wider range of real client in a room I am not in.

Both parts of that exchange are real.

How I will choose the cohort

I am composing a learning group, not ranking practitioners.

There are ten places: approximately six for practitioners from Cultivating Leadership and four for practitioners outside it, with at least two places for Caribbean practitioners.

An instrument tested only within one house style can quietly become tuned to that style without anyone noticing. That is one of the failures I most want to prevent, partly to honor my commitment to developmental sovereignty.

This means some strong applicants may not receive a place in this first cohort. When that happens, the reason will usually be the composition of the group rather than the merit of the application.

A second cohort is planned for March 2027. Anyone not placed in this cohort will be added to that list unless they would prefer not to be.

What you are agreeing to

By accepting a place, you are agreeing to:

• Use the Snapshot with at least two clients between October and December 2026.

• Complete brief, structured field notes after each debrief—five prompts, not an essay.

• Attend the 90-minute case clinic and the January half-day.

• Allow anonymised findings from your field notes to be cited in the instrument’s development.

• Have an identified referral pathway in place before working with your first client. The current report directs participants back to me; during the pilot, you will need to provide an independent route for the people you work with to reach you.

The pilot runs from October 15, 2026 through January 2027 (exact date TBD).
